Everyone walks in with the same four worries

"I have two left feet."
Almost nobody does. Most people were simply never shown the basics in the right order. Putting them in the right order is our job.
"I don't have a partner."
You don't need one. Beginner courses don't ask you to bring anyone, and in a private lesson your coach dances with you.
"I'll be the worst one there."
Level 1 is built for complete beginners, so you'll be learning alongside people starting from zero too.
"I don't know which dance to pick."
Salsa and bachata are the most popular first courses. Still torn? Working that out is what the consultation is for.

Taught by people who have danced at the very top

Beach Ballroom opened in 2022, founded by Richard, Laura and Erin on one belief: anyone can learn to dance if they're taught properly. Richard is a two-time World Champion and two-time British Open Champion. Laura is a British Champion and World Finalist.

The titles matter less than the other half of the job. Every coach at the studio has to be able to take real technique and explain it to someone who has never danced a step.

I was nervous about attending classes by myself and as a total beginner. That fear was erased the second I walked in the door.

The owners, Laura and Richard, are incredibly kind and welcoming, and also world-class dancers (Blackpool and world champions) with an amazing depth of knowledge.

Pick by the music you love and where you want to dance it. You can always change your mind later, and many people end up doing two.

    • Waltz
    • Foxtrot

    • Viennese waltz

    • Paso doble
  3. Social and club

The dances you'll actually use on a night out.

    • West Coast swing
  4. Country and line

Easygoing, sociable and a good laugh on a Friday.

    • Line dancing
    • Country partner dancing

Then come and use it on a Thursday

Latin Thursdays and Country Fridays are our weekly social nights: a class, then the floor is yours. All levels are welcome, $10 drop-in and free for members.

Weddings

Getting married? Start sooner than you think.

Most first dances run 90 seconds to two minutes, and we suggest starting two to four months before the day. Lessons are one-on-one and built around your song, even if neither of you has ever danced.

Packages from 6 lessons at $829.

It took a couple tries to find the right teacher for us until my cousin told me about beach ballroom. I called and spoke to the owner whom was a pleasure to speak to. Who recommended Slavik to choreograph our dance for us.

Questions people ask before their first class

Do I need to bring a partner?

No. Beginner courses don't need a partner, and in private lessons your coach dances with you.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothes you can move in and flat shoes with a smooth sole. There's no need to buy dance shoes before your first class.

How much do dance classes cost?

Four-week beginner courses are $109. Private lessons start at $140 + tax, or $169 + tax with a head coach. The consultation is $99, and weekly socials are $10 or free for members.

Do I have to book a consultation first?

Not for a beginner course: you can book Level 1 directly. The consultation is the best start if you've danced before, want private lessons, or aren't sure which path fits.

Where is the studio, and is there parking?

We're at 1501 Queen Street East in the Beaches. There's no private lot, but several Green P lots and street parking are a short walk away.
